The broadcast of Kennedy’s funeral in half-frames

Sat 11 Mar 2006

Derek Young posts a series of photographs his grandfather took of Kennedy’s funeral as broadcast on television:

My grandpa used his camera to capture what appears to be the funeral of JFK as it appeared on television from the comfort of his living room. To me, this is a particularly poignant way to see an event. It’s a view that seems more real, in the sense of how I would see something, than what we find in archived footage. Was this a common practice back in the days before VCRs, PVRs, and YouTube? Has anybody else come across this in their old files?
