Hanami and Tohoku travel
Wed 04 May 2005
We’ve been traveling around Tohoku and looking at cherry blossoms (yes, you Tokyoites, sakura are at their peak here right now). Last weekend we went to Kakunodate in Akita and yesterday we drove up to Hirosaki in Aomori. Hirosaki is considered one of the best places to see sakura in the country, and it completely lives up to it’s reputation. The cherry trees were right at their peak. Since the blossoms are on the trees for less than a week, a day earlier or later can make a big difference.
